45. WII FIT TRAINER

Franchise / home series: Wii Fit
Notable non-Smash games: Wii Fit (2007); Wii Fit Plus (2009)

Wii Fit Trainer debuted in Smash 4 as one of the most surprising roster choices, representing the fitness-oriented Wii era. Their calm demeanor, yoga poses, and constant health tips gave Smash a bizarre yet charmingly unique fighter.

In Smash, Wii Fit Trainer uses yoga-based strikes and fitness moves, with Sun Salutation and Deep Breathing as central mechanics. Deep Breathing temporarily boosts power and speed, turning the trainer into a surprisingly deadly attacker. Their projectiles and disjointed hitboxes, such as Header (soccer ball) and side special, enable creative setups and pressure.

Despite the comedic concept, Wii Fit Trainer’s toolkit is genuinely technical and potent, rewarding timing, spacing, and setup knowledge. The character stands as proof that Smash can turn even exercise software into a fully realized, competitive fighting game character with a strong identity.
