52. ROBIN

Franchise / home series: Fire Emblem

Notable non-Smash games: Fire Emblem Awakening (2012)

Robin joined Smash 4 as the customizable avatar protagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening. Unlike other sword-centric Fire Emblem reps, Robin focuses on tomes and limited-use magic, emphasizing a more tactical, resource-based approach.

In Smash, Robin carries both a Levin Sword and a set of elemental tomes (Thunder, Elwind, Arcfire, Nosferatu), all governed by durability. After a certain number of uses, tomes and sword temporarily break, forcing Robin to fight with weaker alternatives until they recharge. This system encourages careful resource management and planning.

The character plays as a slower, more methodical mage-swordsman with powerful disjointed hitboxes and strong ledge traps, particularly with Arcfire. Robin offers a distinct Fire Emblem flavor focused on spellcasting and planning around limited resources, mirroring the tactical decisions of the Fire Emblem games themselves.
